Holesfoot is located in the magnificent countryside of the Eden Valley, nestled between the Lake District & Yorkshire Dales National Parks. Approached by quiet country lanes, the nearest village is the picturesque rural community of Maulds Meaburn (1 mile), described by journalist Hunter Davies as ‘one of the most beautiful villages in the country’. The estate sits centrally within 20 acres of its own private grounds, with a mixture of formal and informal gardens, a lake, woodland and picturesque meadows to enjoy.
The area has many leisure activities within close reach ranging from grouse shooting on the Pennines to sailing on Ullswater, bridleways, footpaths & local golf courses. Penrith is on the main West Coast rail line, with a direct train running to London in approx. 3 hours. The M6 motorway, (J39 ) only 20 minutes drive away, is close enough to be convenient but far enough away not to spoil the tranquil setting. The ancient market town of Appleby has an excellent range of local amenities including a railway station sited on the scenic Settle to Carlisle Railway. The M6 (Junction 40) and West Coast mainline railway are easily accessed at Penrith, approximately 12 miles north.
